Child Benefit in France

As per usual - this is a long and complex subject in France.

But a little tit-bit from the CAF magazine which came through my door: And would be valid if / when you are "in the French System."

Question: My first child will be born shortly. What money do I get?
Answer: Allocation Familial will be paid from your second child.
But if your income from 2006 (as a couple, with one person working) isn't more than Euro32,328 or Euro42,722 (if you both work) you will receive a prime de naissance de la PAJE (prestation d'accueil du jeune enfant) in the 7th month of pregnancy of Euro855.25.
You will also receive each month Euro171.06 from the month of the birth, until the 3rd birthday of the baby.

Well, the mathematics are clear ?

You need to give up work, lie in the sun for a few months, then have another 7 children.

If you then sell up, go on a round the world cruise to spend the money, and come back - you will be eligible for free housing and medical treatment.

Add in the unemployment, and you are well set for retirement ?
