Meeting the British Consul in Marseilles

Today we met Simon Taylor who is the new (arrived in January) British Consul in Marseilles.

Mainly he told us that most of the money (80pc) he is allocated is used for helping holiday makers who have got in a mess: robberies, deaths, he visits people in prison etc. He wanted to meet French Help Services, BritsNimes and Languedoc Sun, as a way to get in touch with Brits who are resident on his patch, without costing him any money. He hopes to do a roadshow at some point and a reunion for other groups and associations in Marseilles next year too.

He also mentioned, when pushed, that an announcement will be made concerning the 'healthcare issues' that have some about recently - for those Brits already in France - he wouldn't comment further though.

Marseilles was also flaming freezing... and a walk up the ave Prado was like walking in a gale... my high heels and tights that I never wear in France. (Frocked-up I was!...)
