Leclerc supermarket is open all day today in Talence - a suburb of Bordeaux. We go along there and when we couldn't find Avocat which I've suddenly fancied after Lynne put it into my head... we end up buying vodka infused with sloes ... mmm. And for the less adventurous some Muscat de Murviel which apparently is in the Herault, but I've never heard of it.
My turn to cook tonight... so I'm doing that Coq au Riesling followed by that sticky toffee pudding from Nigella Express - the French expect to be dead tomorrow - killed by English cooking... ho ho ho. Huh, at least our side of the family isn't always ill! we have stronger constitutions.
Am very glad we aren't going to be driving another 2 hours to the Ile de Re now this week .. I love the island in the Summer but I suspect there isn't much to do in the Winter and doubt the heating is up to it either... it's not my idea of fun to be trapped in a gite with no telly, internet or means of escape (not to mention other things...)
Am pleased to hear that the Bordeaux tram and bus system has just come off of strike too.. we might get to see something this week now.
Alicia far too excited at the moment, naps and nighttime not as easy as usual - too many toys / noises / much stuff to do..
...there's a huge goose in the fridge...
