Rubbish job, but French binmen do it with flair

Navigating tipping etiquette in a new country is a nightmare, especially if a wrong move could land you in a whole world of rubbish. Literally.

One winter's evening I was alone in the house when the doorbell rang. By the time I got tothe door, three men were departing through the gate but stopped when they heard the door open and called back to me, "poubelles". I didn't understand why they appeared to want my dustbins.
